Cre·dit Un·ion (‘kred-et ‘yün-yen) A federal chartered organization set up to accept employee-member savings and from those funds, to make loans to employee-members at reasonable interest rates.
In simpler terms, the Credit Union is like a bank, with Crayola employees and their family members as its sole customers. It offers:
The Credit Union brings employees a convenient, modern banking experience with personal service and great rates.
The Credit Union is a not-for-profit organization, owned and controlled by the members. It is a federal chartered organization set up to accept employee-member savings and from those funds, to make loans to these same employee-members at reasonable interest rates.
Ownership and control are vested in the members of the Credit Union. A Board of Directors, elected to three-year terms by Credit Union members, manage the organization’s activities and policies. Directors are Crayola employees and retirees elected at the Credit Union’s annual meeting in March.
Crayola does not supply the funds for the Credit Union’s operations. The Credit Union is a separate Pennsylvania corporation. When you borrow money from the Credit Union, you are using the savings of your co-workers, friends and associates.
The Credit Union follows banking rules and regulations to ensure financial controls and fiscal responsibility. Like all credit unions chartered by the NCUA, our Credit Union must operate according to the federal statutes. Examiners working directly under the National Credit Union Association audit the Credit Union, and the Credit Union’s bylaws must be approved by NCUA.
